| Marion and Mike Kelly: we are IT professionals (in Marion's case - retired) with many years experience of senior level consultancy and project management; however we are also enthusiastic, long-term boaters - Mike has been narrowboating on and off since 1969. This love of England's inland waterways and ownership of two boats finally led us to settle, at the end of 2003, not only in Braunston at the heart of the network, but right on the wharf itself. Perhaps something that we should have done years ago, nevertheless we now feel really at home - probably for the first time ever!
We have known Braunston for many years from boating in the region on our 18 footer 'Marionette' (our 'baby' - designed by us, built superbly by Ray & Cindy at Sea Otter); through friendship with the old Phoenix boat crowd, and finally buying our 50 footer Odysseus from the Marina (a sturdy, well built narrowboat from the old Wolverhampton Boat Company and with a glorious old Gardner L2).
Having got to know the surrounding area well, we realised that we are perfectly placed to offer the waterway lover (whether boating, walking, or just sight-seeing) the perfect location to enjoy a stay by 'the heart of England's inland waterways' and for Marion to write her childrens' books!
